Operational intelligence

Definition

Operational intelligence is the ability to read signals across every part of a business at once and act on the pattern they form together.

It is distinct from business intelligence, which reports on what happened. Operational intelligence is concerned with what is happening now and what follows from it: the rising ticket count, the slipping invoice and the missed meeting, read as one situation rather than three reports.
