Definition

SCIM is a standard for automatically creating, updating and deactivating user accounts in an application from a central directory.

SSO controls who can log in. SCIM controls who has an account at all. Without it, deprovisioning a leaver is a manual task in every system they had access to, which is exactly the task that gets forgotten.
